Other This other page contains all the bits and pieces we wanted to include but didn't know where. First up a big thank you and credit for Jenny Coopes who drew all the icons for this web site. Jenny, you are a marvel and a builder too. More of Jenny's work can be seen in the Sun-Herald, published in Sydney Australia.
Thanks also to Libby Blainey for her technical expertise, assistance and encouragement. Thanks to all the other people who have given us advice, help and sustenance. If you write to me I'll include your name too. A big thanks to all our pets who give us so much enjoyment (even Tui the cat who is annoying me immensely as I slowly type this). To hear what Tui has to say about the work so far click on the icon following and turn your sound up. Thank you. KATRINA DALY
Born in 1955 on Stewart Island at New Zealand’s southern extremity, Katrina Daly now lives and works in Napoleon Reef, a dot on the map between Lithgow and Bathurst. She is involved in several of the visual arts, but she is now concentrating her talents on painting in oils and watercolour. Ranges of hand painted tiles are also produced by Katrina, which generally reflect her love of the rural lifestyle. They are available unframed or framed in a variety of colours and painted finishes. In her 20 years in Sydney, Katrina worked mainly in fabric design and screen printing, later specialising in silk. Some silk scarf commissions include; Park Hyatt, Civilisation Exhibition at the National and Victorian Galleries, Brueghel to Van Gogh Exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Scarf Show at the Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney. She was commissioned often to design and paint murals in trompe l’oeil in private homes and commercial businesses. Throughout this period Katrina was always producing paintings, mostly by request from private collectors. In 1988 Katrina held a successful exhibition of fabric and oil paintings based on Greek and Etruscan themes. The Powerhouse Museum purchased the fabric for its permanent collection. In 1993 her work was included in an exhibition of contemporary Australian textiles, Lizards, Snakes and Cattledogs, held at the German Textile Museum in Krefeld. In August 1998 and 2000 Katrina had successful solo exhibitions of watercolours and oil paintings at Millthorpe. These paintings captured the seasonal abundance of produce harvested from her own and other people’s gardens. In October and November of 2000 fabric and tiles with a Waratah theme have been exhibited and on sale at the S.H. Ervin Gallery and the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. They were part of The State of the Waratah exhibition.
